This is a discussion based writing unit about who is the most artist of all time: Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo or Pablo Picasso. Perfect for learning about famous artists! The unit has been split into four separate lessons which will take students approximately 40-50 minutes each. Ideal for students in Year 3 or Year 4.
The first lesson involves students retrieving facts from informational texts about the three artists, and writing these onto the included fact sheet. In the second lesson students need to use these facts to write three to four paragraphs about the individual people. In the third lesson students need to use prompt sheets to write up an introduction and a conclusion. In the final lesson your class will need to check their draft paragraphs for mistakes before writing up their work on a neat copy using the template provided.

The activity requires NO PREP; it has a body of text that students need to read through thoroughly; then they can use the text to find the comprehension and grammar answers. Six reading comprehension activities, or informational texts, with comprehension and grammar questions followed by extension tasks about six famous artists: Michelangelo, Henri Matisse, Claude Monet, Jackson Pollock, Banksy and Rembrandt. The Google Forms activities are ideal for distance learning and perfect for students in Year 3 or Year 4 learning about Art History or World History.

The activities are online resources, that use Google Forms, and are linked to your Google Drive. They can be completed by students online using tablets, phones or computers, and are easily assessed by teachers as all the answers are provided in a quick and easy format.
Time allowance to complete:
5-10 minutes - read through the text individually.
40-50 minutes - answer questions using the text as guidance (including extension activity)
Time allowance to assess:
A class set of activities might take around 15-20 minutes to mark; the teacher can then send the students their marks automatically, which allows them to read back through their work. Nearly all answers are not automatically generated, but only require a small amount of work to assign points. This is because the aim is to get students writing answers and not to just have multiple choice options.
Please ensure when you download this resource into Google Drive that you are logged in to the gmail account where you wish to store the activity. In the past teachers have downloaded resources into their school account in error. Thanks :)
